Titicaca is a wholesaler of original gifts from the heart of South America. Our name comes form lake Titicaca that is situated on the border between Bolivia and Peru and therefore it symbolizes the origin of our products from both countries.
Creating easy access to sources of income for poor communities combats poverty most effectively. We contribute to that through buying directly from these people. And our starting point is always that the producer becomes more independent and autonomous instead of becoming dependent on us.
All our products are handmade by people at home or by shepherds in the fields. The handiwork that we speak of does not only mean 'made by hand'. It also refers to the dedication and care the producers put in their work and which reflects in our products. And to the fair pay that they have received for it. Lovely!
Of course, child labour. is out of the question. Teenagers often help with the production, and feel proud and enthusiast about that.
Cheerfully handmade refers to a production method, which we see as decent.
